Jurgen Klopp admitted he has ‘no idea’ if Roberto Firmino will
be available for Liverpool’s first Champions League game of the season
as they welcome Paris Saint-Germain to Anfield on Tuesday night.
The Brazilian attacker was forced off during the Reds 2-1 Premier League win over Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Saturday after sustaining an eye injury in a freak collision with Jan Vertonghen.
Firmino has not suffered any lasting damage from the clash and was quickly discharged from hospital but doubts remain over whether he will recover in time for the high-profile tie with the Ligue 1 champions.
And he will undergo last minute tests, with Klopp sweating on the fitness of his star striker.
‘No idea, to be honest. He is much better,’ Klopp said.
‘We all see the picture and we were massively worried. But all these worries are away so he will be fine.
‘If he will be fine for tomorrow, I don’t know in the moment.
‘We are obviously in close contact with him and it improved already – but in this moment I can’t say if he will be available for tomorrow.’
