Morata had an explosive start to life at Chelsea after joining the club last summer, scoring seven goals in his opening eight appearances, but the Spaniard suffered a dramatic dip in form after the turn of the year.
However, Morata is hopeful of a more successful season under Maurizio Sarri this term and the striker got off the mark with the second goal in Chelsea’s 3-2 victory over Arsenal at the weekend.
Morata believes a lack of confidence and injury problems affected him in 2017/18 but the forward is now ready to take the Premier League by storm.
‘I’m very happy because it was three very important points against Arsenal,’ he said following Chelsea’s London derby win.
‘In the Premier League I think if you win your first five games you’re in the fight because here in every game you can lose or drop points.
‘The last year was very hard for me, not just with confidence. The injury [last season] was very bad for me and my head, but when the ball goes into the net everything changes.
‘Your mind isn’t blocked anymore and I hope now I can score a lot of goals.
